Representative Seong Il-jong held a press conference at the Seosan City Hall briefing room on the morning of April 17, where he declared his commitment to being a proactive legislator for successful governance and regional development.
Seong stated, "I sincerely thank the citizens of Seosan and Taean for their active support and encouragement until I was elected in the 22nd National Assembly election on the 10th. For the successful governance of our country and for the development of Seosan and Taean, I will spare no effort in fulfilling my role."
Seong added, "Over the past eight years, I have spent weekends in the region, listening to the opinions of citizens and residents, and dedicating myself to regional development. I will continue to fulfill my role as a chief secretary, dedicated to the happiness of the region's residents and its development."
He then presented his blueprint for future regional development and pledged to make every effort to flawlessly implement his commitments.
Seong stated, "I will foster the Seosan-Taean area as a hub for future advanced industries, making it a forward base that drives not only the region but also the national economy."
His blueprint for refining and developing the region includes:
Establishing a cultural exploration theme park in the Seosan eastern region (Haemi, Eumam, Unsan)
Creating a wellness special zone and future aviation production and research complex in the Seosan A.B area
Developing a future aviation production and research complex in Taean corporate city
Attracting and opening a prestigious international school early in Taean corporate city
Expanding exchanges between Seosan Medical Center and Seoul National University Hospital, and constructing a modern annex
Promoting the early construction of the Seosan-Taean railway and the Taean highway
Establishing a national marine garden in Garorim Bay
Particularly, he noted that the prestigious international school, Haileybury College from the UK, will be established in Taean corporate city with a target opening year of 2027. This school will be operated integrally from kindergarten to high school, following an MOU signed on the 2nd with Hyundai Urban Development and BIEK (the official agency for establishing international schools).
Seong also mentioned plans to connect cultural and tourist attractions like Haemieupseong Fortress, the Catholic holy site Seosan Farm, and the Buddhist cultural area of Gayasan, considering a monorail as a transportation option and promoting the restoration of Boweon Temple site.
In conclusion, Seong stated, "The significance of my third-term election is the victory of the public's desire for definite regional development. Despite the challenges of negative campaigning, I am proud to have conducted a diligent election campaign. I will faithfully fulfill my role as a sincere and capable three-term legislator, considering the public’s will."
